BVI reduces quarantine to 1 day for vaccinated visitors


The British Virgin Islands will reduce its quarantine requirement to one day for travelers fully vaccinated against Covid-19, pending a negative PCR test done upon arrival.

The new measure takes effect May 15, according to a statement released by Carvin Malone, minister for health and social development.

All travelers, including those who are vaccinated, will still be required to produce a negative PCR test result done within five days of travel and will be subject to a PCR test upon arrival. entry protocols will remain the same for unvaccinated arrivals.

Those who are vaccinated must provide proof of vaccination. 

Fully vaccinated travelers must quarantine until a negative test result is received by the BVI Health Services Authority, but they will immediately be released from quarantine once the negative result  is received.

Also, those who have been vaccinated and have been in the BVI for 14 days can travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands, St. Maarten or Puerto for up to 24 hours and are exempt from quarantine and the PCR test upon reentering the BVI.

However, day trippers to those neighboring islands will be required to take a PCR test seven days after returning to the BVI.

Mask-wearing and physical distancing remain in effect for visitors and residents at all times.


When to dive the BVI;

The best time to visit is from December to April, January, February and April are the driest months.

August, September and October have the most rain, and the highest chance on Tropical storms and hurricanes.

The BVI have PADI, BSAC, CMAS, SSI and NAUI dive centers available.

Most dive operators are based on Tortola, but Virgin Gorda, Jost van Dyke, Scrub Island & Cooper Island have dive centers as well.

RMS Rhone wreck:

This UK Royal Mail Ship sunk in a hurricane in 1867. Diving the RMS Rhone can be done out of Tortola, Cooper-& Scrub Island and Arena Gorda.

This is a 2-tank dive, to be able to cover the whole wreck. Also as a night-dive upon request available.

The first dive is 75 ft and starts at the bow section, during the interval time you'll get a briefing on the history of the wreck.

The second dive starts at 70 ft at the midsection.
Seahorses, Turtles, Octopus and Moray Eels are just some of the creatures you'll enjoy on these dives.


Chikuzen wreck;























Located at 12 miles Northwest of Virgin Gorda,
this 246 ft refrigeration vessel lies at 75 ft.
Apart from the resident 600 lbs Goliath Grouper there are regular sightings of Eagle- & Stingrays, Barracuda and Reef Sharks.


Ginger Steps;























A series of big, natural ledges that start in the shallow waters of Ginger Island and cascade down to 90 ft. Octopus, Dolphins, Eels, Barracuda, Rays and Angelfish call and a variety of Corals call the Ginger Steps their home.


The Playground;
















Between Sandy Spit & Green Cay, a large formation of Pillar Coral, gorgonians and huge boulders. 
Turtles, Eagle Rays, Parrot fish, Atlantic Manta rays and reef- and nurse sharks, reef squids and snappers make this a very attractive dive site.
Depth is from 30 to 70 ft.


Alice's Wonderland;

































Near Ginger Steps, a series of Canyons, Ridges & valleys, with excellent viz. Frequent visitors are Hawksbill Turtles, Reef Sharks, Barracuda, Rays & Amber jacks.
The Mushroom-shaped Coral formations inspired the name for this fantastic dive site.
The depth varies from 50 to 75 ft.


The Chimney;



























Located off the coast of Great Dog Island, and it is said that this was one of Jacques Cousteau's favorites. Canyons and ridges run parallel to the shore, and are beautifully grown with Corals and Sponges. Parrot fish, Yellow tail Snapper, Blue Tangs and Angelfish are some of the species to be seen on this 45 ft dive.

The Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park in the Caribbean Sea, is located of the west coast of Grenada, and can be reached easily by a 10 minute boat ride out of St Georges. The sculptures are created by the British sculptor Jason deClaires Taylor and are forming a artificial reef in the Molinere Bay. The underwater sculpture park covers about 800 square meters (8611 square ft) and consists of 75 individual sculptures that form solo and group formations all together about 15 tons of dry cement was used. Barbados will reduce quarantine time for vaccinated visitors (starting May 8th)

Effective May 8, vaccinated travelers entering Barbados will benefit from a reduced quarantine time after they arrive, if they can provide a vaccination certificate from AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccines. This change is a result of the global ongoing vaccination process, and Barbados becomes the first Caribbean country to tweak its entry protocols for vaccinated travelers. However, even vaccinated visitors still must provide proof of a negative PCR test result taken three days prior to travel, take a second PCR test upon arrival and use designated transportation to their approved accommodation.
