Diving Cuba (World class diving at over 500 dive sites)

 

Located in the Northern Caribbean, Cuba is the largest Island in the Caribbean.

It covers 42,426 square miles, and has a population of over 11 million

Havana is the capital.



When to dive Cuba:

The dry, and relatively cool season runs from late November to mid-April. From late-April to early-November it is muggy and rainy. 

Hurricane season is from June to November and peaks from August to November. The eastern part of Cuba is the most lightly to get affected by Tropical storms and hurricanes since they usually come from the east.

Cuba offers Corals, Caverns & Sharks and has the second biggest reef in the world.

When scuba diving Cuba you can find PADI, SSI, and CMAS dive centers.

Gardens of the Queen






This 93 miles long Archipelago is located in the Gulf of Ana Maria. This National Park covers an area of 385 square miles. The area includes islands, banks, islets, beaches, keys, mangroves and reefs.

The reefs at The Gardens of the Queen are in fantastic condition, and covered in several varieties of Gorgonians, Sponges, Boulder Star Corals, Violet Sea Fans, and Laminar Corals.

They are the home to one of the largest & most diverse fish populations in the Caribbean.When diving here, you can see up to 6 species of Sharks in a single dive; Bull Sharks, Caribbean Reef Sharks, Nurse Sharks, Silky Sharks, Lemon Sharks, Hammerheads all call this their home, Whale Sharks can be seen from July through November.    Snappers, Goliath- and Tiger Groupers up to 400 lbs are part of the attraction of diving here.


Gardens of the King








The Gardens of the Kings consists of several small Islands off the Atlantic Coast, it is known for it's outstanding Coral Reefs, which are 6.5 miles long. The depth is between 16 and 130 ft. The reef is home to Parrot fish, Queen Angelfish, Yellow tail Snappers & Grunts,  Jack fish, Tarpon, Sharks, Turtles, Groupers, Snappers, Barracudas and Spade fish among other reef fish.


The Pirates Anchor









This dive spot is named after a 2 ton, 18th century anchor that is covered with Corals & Crustaceans, Sponges & Gorgonians are also part of the scenery. 

Bass, Angel- and Squirrel fish, Snapper and Jacks are the residents at this 50 ft deep dive site.


Maria la Gorda
















At the West side of Cuba, this protected area offers more than 50 dive spots, the diving is limited to 98 ft.
Walls, Coral Canyons, Caves, Tunnels and Spanish Galleons can all be enjoyed here.
The reefs are covered in Lettuce, Plate, and Flower Corals together with many species of Sponges.
Rays, Turtles and Sharks along with Groupers, Snappers, Angelfish and many other Caribbean fish are all present at these pristine dive sites that are considered to be among the 10 best dive sites in the Caribbean.


Cuba offers over 500 dive sites, and dive centers can be found all around the island. Because of the embargo it has had less tourism than other Caribbean Islands and the reefs are world class and the marine life still thrives here.
